Ok Here goes i'm a newbie but i'll try to cover everything. This may be long winded but please stick with it! I have done my home work.
Using the existing guides for converting Divx to mpeg I am trying to put all my existing downloaded movies onto discs that will play on my DVD player.
first of all I got a 'disc error' message using dvd+r memorex discs then tried the same disc in another player and no problem (so I knew I was doing nothing wrong) then after some research on this site I tried some other discs (dvd-r, datawrite red) and an improvement! a picture but no sound. Now, I had a copy of a screener (lotr2) on datawrite so i know they work with my machine so after yet more research I managed to download a file (lotr3) wich had AC3 sound using the same guide and hey presto sound too!
So I, with help from the existing forumguides thanxs, was able to deduce it must be the sound file (mp2, I think) my standalone dvd could not understand.
So, in a ridiculously long winded manner (sorry, :-)) I guess what I am asking is can I change mp2 to AC3 or something my standalone can read. Oh! Nearly forgot if i was to try to do a backup up using the existing guides and datawrite dvd-r's this works fine so I am sure its the sound file but am now stuck and as a last resort am seeking your aid.
