Do I need a new special dvd write that can write onto a dvd9? i saw a few at the store and i was tempted to buy them but i wanted to know if i could use my orginal dvd+-r/+-rw to burn onto dvd9's? thanks

Yes, you need a new burner, there are firmware upgrades available but they have a high rate of drive failure after use (NEC 2500A upgrade). Also there is hardly any media available so IMO i think ill hold off till it becomes more mainstream (and cheaper)

You can buy OEM dual layer burners for $90. Media: Verbatim full solution kit $29.99(includes 1 dl disc), Sony has em for $14.99/disc+free shipping or buy 5 get one free($75 or so), and Ritek is suppose to start producing them and those will run $7-10
