MGS: SOL on HD freezes when loading save _

I backed up Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty to my PS2 HD without any problems using the ownz HDDloader. I played the game for a while and saved. I came back an hour later to find that when I clicked play on MGS it went to a blank screen and stayed there.

I troubleshooted for a while and figured out it was hanging when it attempted to load my save. Pulling out my memory card before starting MGS fixed the problem to some extent. Even if I insert the card after getting MGS to the main menu it will still hang when I try to load.

Anyone encountered this problem yet? Are there any fixes to this?

I appreciate any help.

Oddly enough it seems that the same thing happens when I try to play off the DVD rather than the HD. There are a few minor scratches on the game but nothing that looks like it might hinder gameplay. Seems that these scratches are preventing MGS from loading properly...

Installing a friends copy on to my HD. That should fix my problem. Thanks for nothing guys :P

It may be some sort of memory issue. I take it that the game saves directly to the hard drive. But it was programmed by default to save to a memory card. You did the right thing by removing your mem card.
