I have downloaded several streaming wmv files from the Internet. I have no problem watching them. The problem arises when I want to move back or forward while watching - it simply can't be done.

Let's say I have a 2 hour video file and I only have time to watch one hour one day. The next day I want to watch the last hour of the video file, but there is no way to go one hour into the video file and then start watching. I've tried everything.

The easiest way to normally move back and forward while watching is of course to "grab" the little "button" that is moving and indicating how much of the file that has been played. But when I do this with the downloaded streaming wmv files the "button" just goes back to where it originally was and the playing of the file is not affected at all. It just keeps playing.

I assume it all has to do with that it is a streaming wmv that I have downloaded. Does anybody have a simple solution to the problem?

(It's of course possible to convert the wmv files to another format, but that's a hassle.)

Windows media files need to be indexed to use the seek bar. The best way to do that is to use a streaming recorder that will index the downloaded file. If the file is already downloaded and not indexed it can be indexed with other software.

So there was an easy way :) I'm using NetTransport and it was quite easy to use the indexing feature in NetTransport for the downloaded files. Thanks a lot!
