HTC Windows Phone flagship to be called 8X?

The codenamed HTC 'Accord' will hit retail with the final name HTC 8X, says a source close to the company.
If accurate, the insider says the device will ship with a 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 HD display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and an 8MP camera with a nice f/2.0 lens.

Microsoft should be pissed...the "flagship" windows phone is gonna have a 1.2GHZ chip in it? That's a solid year out of date!

The S4s are certainly not a year out of date and are likely more efficient than quad-cores + Android.

The particular chips are not that old, but that doesn't make them flagship class, not when the newest androids will have 1.7ghz quad-cores within a month. As for battery life, I don't think htc cares...if they did, $20 chinese replacements wouldn't last so much longer.

HTC phones actually aren't that bad with battery life when its windows on them and not android. Not to say Android sucks with battery life, Samsung clearly shows that. But windows already ran smoothly on a single core chip, I'm surprised they didn't under clock to just 1 GHz dual core. Regardless, people who buy windows phones certainly won't be for the specs. Actually the camera will determine the devices success in most cases when against pure view technology
As in regards to the one x+ coming with a 1.7ghz quad if its still tegra 3 its nothing to lust over. As its still archaic technology that'll definitely be a battery sucker especially if HTC doesn't increase the battery. The next generation chips that'll actually put android past iOS and windows in terms of raw power will be true A15 chips, which will be dual core most likely off the bat but around 1.8-2ghz.

Ok, so lets forget the One X+...how about the Galaxy Note II...a 5.5" screen and a 1.6ghz Cortex A9 quad-core...surely you can't claim that the casual observer won't notice the bigger screen, and anyone who even glances as the specs will see it has more than 2.5x the clock cycles.
Just because windows doesn't allow applications the same freedoms to zap battery life does not make the battery life good; it just keeps the battery from being used as much...and you can do that with Android. The problem is that when you DO need to use the battery, it gets burned quickly. My old Sensation 4G came with a battery that would last about 45 minutes under heavy use...a cheap Chinese battery from Amazon increased that to over 75 minutes. Yeah, that old phone used power, but my point is that HTC included a really crummy battery because they just didn't care.
If Windows is more efficient with the CPU then great...let it be more efficient with a better CPU so it is actually FASTER! No reason to give it a slower chip just because it doesn't need as much. Windows needs to make up for a lot of missing features and a small app market, and being "almost as fast as an Android phone that has better hardware and a bigger screen" is not going to do that. Yeah, yeah...battery life is important, but do you really think HTC will put anything close to 3100mah in this?

No. When they introduce their phablet, it'll probably have an anemic battery and while their anemic battery will be the deciding factor for the phablet wars. If the rumored HTC 1080p screen is true Samsung will have a run for its money. Luckily Samsung included the stylus and if their exynos quad now supports full LTE/HSPA they will have the fastest phone no doubt regardless if it is A9 tech or not. The s4 isn't even a true A15 chip. But regardless if the note 2 comes to the states it'll be a hit if its Sporting the quad exynos or the a15 exynos 5250 it'll definitely be the fastest.
