Yes, you can download on it, but that would be classed as piracy and is not allowed on this forum.

CoZZa relax! He made indications that he planned to download copyrighted material, therefore there was no breach of rules!
I'm working on a pretty extensive set of guides for IRC and should have em ready soon!

Im not saying that Pontius question was piracy, i was saying that Explaining how to download files, which 99% of them (the files being downloaded) would be copied material, that would be against the rules.

No it wouldnt! If someone comes in and asks for a specific movie to download, its against the rules. If someone comes in and ask's how you would go about downloading from some certain thing like a newsgroup or IRC bots, its not against the rules as they request no piracy related information or material.
BTW, 99%?? in the very large world of IRC, there are a lot of Copyright Infringing files, but its by far not near 99% of the files. You forget that a lot of ISP's have their own IRC networks, or college's or any type of organisation. Obviously if you connect to a mostly warez chan network, a lot of the downloads will be copyright infringing files!
Also we have to take into account that in some countries downloading warez or movies, is NOT illegal! Therefore, we arent too hard on these types of questions!

Ok Ok
Ok, the main thing im trying to say is that, lets say you were downloading 'legal' files, say a trial of a program, why go to a place like IRC to download the files when you can download straight from the manufacuter's site.
99%, i know thats a large amount, i know its not that much.
I dont want this to start into a debate.
I admit, i might of jumped to a conclusion to early. Sorry for that.
Just pretend i didnt make a post to start off with.

Ok heres a senario. Lets say some bad bad man wanted to download ps2 decrypted files off of mirc would this very evil law breaking person be able to do this very naughty frowned apon (in most contries) thing?

You go to www.packetnews.com to search for your "legit" packets. Once you type in a search string for a trial for your game or program, *wink* then click the link on the #. It will take you to IRC and ask if you want to change servers. Click OK. Then you press..tricky one..ctrl+v to paste the string to request the file from the bot. In packetnews, you want to make sure the bot is fast and has free slots. Also, in your prefrence, mess around with the DCC file settings until you start receiving packets normally. You may want to search for a script, such as invision.

Im enforcing the rules the way i was told, i dont see any contradicting, the last few posts were specifically aimed at piracy, even though it had all this "wink wink" shit in it doesnt make it an ok post, it makes it obvious what they were on about and damn offending to think that they cud say it with a mod on the same thread, k?

Did he do any of that? No. SSnake was right for being banned, as he asked a specific question. But no warning at all, XxHaXx is simply trying to help, and he's ban. Seems a bit unjustly to me..

Well if you believe that SSnake was right to be banned because he was asking questions about Piracy, Then you also should agree that XxHaXx had to be banned for assisting with the questions. Its not even the assisting that made me ban him, its the "wink" stuff that made me ban him. Anyways, whats done is done, all the other mods would have done the exact same thing in that situation!
