I am wondering if there is any way to burn DVD9 onto a DVD5 format without using the DVD shrink program to compress the files or strip out the menus and stuff. Basically what I want to know is can you create a dual-layered DVD? Thanks for any help.

No, you cant creat a dual layered DVD
but you can buy Dual Layered Discs, and with certain drives you can flash the firmware - so you can burn to them
but very expensive and not very well known
try shrinking stuff - its better for now

loner is correct, but if you want dual layer they are 15.00 plus shipping from Sony, that's the cheapest I've seen. Buy 5 get 1 free. You must have a dual layer burner and I don't mean dual format.

Yea but if you burn it twice, it could be done - Do the first from inside to out then out to in so's it will flow one to the other :)
Edit - Just remembered, you have to use a re-writable so's to get the proper burning pattern -

I have a Pioneer "DVD-RW DVR-107D," will that be able to support dual-layer burning? And also, does "burning from out to in and in to out" mean the same thing as dual-layering?

No, no, ScubaPete was being funny :D)
There are "Dual Burners" (approx. $200.00(USD) and there are Dual layered discs somewhere around $7.00 (USD) ea. You need them both - Dual layered means one on top of the other.
Sorry for my funny -
Pete

Better watch out what you say Pete, your advice is considered the "word" around here. LOL
I gotta question tho, where can I get the discs for 7.00? (or were you being "funny")
