I've used nero to burn a download file SVCD to VCD and althought the picture quality is sharp the actually playback is quite jerky. you can see each frame play at a time.

I've been told buy a friend that Nero's VCD burning software isn't the best, Can anyone recommend a better one?

Neros burning software is fine and it is one of the best. But alot of people see it and think it is to complicated to burn a cd because it doesnt have cute little pop ups to help you. Nero is definately a power users choice. Now neros encoding software is your problem...you may want to try to convert your .avi's with TMPGEnc. use this guide to help you. http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/divx_with_subtitles_to_vcd.cfm

Nero software is one of the best out there for burning vcds. However, their encoder has something to be desired. Use tmpgenc to encode the file in vcd format then use nero.
