DVDShrink 3.1.7.6 stopped ripping

I have been using DVDShrink for some time now with no problems until now. Shrink will not rip dvds anymore, I keep getting the same error. "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Copy protection error. The request could not be performed because of an I/O decive error." The last dvd I tried to backup was a brand new dvd out of the box, no scratches or fingerprints. I got the errror right away, others it would happen at about 85% of encoding. I have tried unistalling Shrink and reinstalling, but I am still getting the same error. Does anyone know a fix for this, or should I just wait for the new version of Shrink to come out. I have been able to use DVD Decrypter to rip and then Shrink to pick what I want and burn with Nero. This seems to be working fine, just curious why Shrink stopped working and I have to do an extra step now. I haven't made any changes to my computer, no new hardware or software. Please help, thank you.

DVD4Life, you could also try deselecting "Enable Burning With Nero" in the "Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O" menu.
You will still be able to burn with Nero as a separate process (or with DVD Decrypter if you choose DVD Shrink output to be an ISO image).

No not fixed. Everyones suggestions were great and I think that I was on the road to getting it corrected, but now I have bigger problems. My dvd burner will no longer recognize blank media. Can't burn to dvd media at all now. The drive (Lite-on LDW-411s) will still burn to cd media though. I think that it is fried. Staples has a good deal on an I/O Magic 8X burner, $49 after rebate. Are these any good? Is it really a Lite-on 811?

I've not heard many goo reports about the I/O Magic drives. I'd go with the Lite On 8x series myself if budget is a concern. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" when it comes to burners (although Lite On seems to be the sole exception).
