More precisely are they the best? I know Sony always makes quality products so I figured these would be the best.

Intel C2D E6600 OC to 3.01GHZ Average Load temp 77F *Lapped!*
Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS *SUPERCLOCKED* 720Mhz
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
G. SKILL DDR2 800 2GB HZ D9MGH
LG Super Multi external DVD read/writer
320 GB Seagate Barracuda, 36 GB WD Raptor
Ultra X-Pro 600W PSU

I have not used the Sony media, myself, so I can't speak from experience. What I have read, puts Sony media near the bottom of the food chain.

I use Ritek and have not been disappointed.
