Hi. I have a question. I have recently started backing up my DVD's. I have a LITE ON LDW 401S 4X DVD BURNER and I am using DVD shrink and NERo 6 ULTRA to burn my DVD's. Everything works fine except for the fact that some of the movies (even those that don't need to be shrunk down by DVD SHRINK), aquire this shakiness effect when I play them on my DVD player. It is very slight and maybe unnoticeable to some , but I still notice it. Some times it last for half of the movie and then it kinda disappears, sometimes it not even there...
I'm not sure why. To exaplain, it's kinda of a vertical type shaking of the the movie up and down as it plays maybe 1/8 of a inch in magnitude...
I have used different types of DVD media and the same thing occurs. Right now I am using the RIDATA 4X DVD+R's , which I heard work pretty well with my dvd burner. Anyone have any ideas how I might fix this? Could it have anything to do with using DVD+R 's instead of DVD-R's? What's the difference between those anywayz?

thanks
jc

So its only those that dont have to be shrunk? If they are DVD5 already, then u shud just use DVD Decryupter to rip and burn instead of any 1 click tool!

It is not only those that dont have to be shrunk. It is all of them. I was just mentioning this because you'd think that maybe the shrinking process is causing the issue?
any other ideas?

Have you tried playing any of your backups in another player (a friends)? It sounds like your player may be going bad. The part that holds and spins the disc may be getting some wear to it causing the shake and looking like the disc is un-balanced. Just a guess.

An addition to my friend Jerry's post -

Compare only DVD copies -

Because Original DVD's are pressed they may well play fine - Burned DVD's are more sensitive therefore may be your "Jumpers"

"P"

@jcoplo, i dont understand what you mean by "they dont need to be shrunk". Do you mean that the source DVD is less than 4.36GB?, if it is, then you can use DVD Decrypter to copy it straight.

And as mentioned earlier, playback is different when its a burned DVD, its pressed vs. dye basically. However, DVD-R's also have many different brands, Ritek are a pretty good brand.
