I have a Gateway laptop with a TDK-880n writer/burner. Recently any movie that I back-up using Nero (Ultimate), the movies freezes at different times. My laptop freezes also. Help!!
1) Nero may need a reinstall as it sometimes does.
2) Possibly a heat issue? Clogged air intakes for your laptop or an unusually high ambient room temp. Laptops seem to be more susceptible to heat than towers due to the limited airflow thay have.

I un/installed Nero and the same thing happened using Vebatim (1x,4x) Digital Movie DVD-R disc. Mine you, the Verbatim discs work wonderful with my Medion desktop using a internal Sony writer. I went back to using the TDK-DVD-R4x discs and after many burns, the unit is working fine. Go figure!! I guess my TDK-880n reader/writer is more suited with the TDK discs.

There may be a firmware update for your burner. Try checking for one of them. I couldn't find any info about the burner model you mentioned, but I'm assuming you know where to update your own hardware.
