Got the pre-ban version 4.0.3 off ebay and it works just fine. I also use DVD Decrypter to rip DVD movies to my hard drive. So when I open DVD X Copy in the advanced mode it gives me a choice of either accessing the DVD movie in the DVD player/burner OR browsing for the movie in a folder on my hard drive. Problem is the "Browse" button is always grayed out. So is this a bug in the DVD X Copy software or did they intentionally not want a user to burn a DVD from movie files stored on a hard drive?

Yes, it is a bug and was never ironed out before they were banned from selling the ripper version. You need the Ripper Free (RF) Version to get the browse function. You will need to call or e-mail 321, give them your original serial number and username, to get a new password so you can download the RF version from their website. Install it to a DIFFERENT folder than your ripper version.
After both versions are on your hard drive, copy the bouducon.dll from your ripper version folder and put it in your RF folder. It will make the RF version able to rip your personnaly owned commercial movies, and you will have the browse button in case you ripped movies with DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter.

GrandpaBW,
Do you use Platinum RF? And no need to swap bouducon files ... just get 321rip :)

If "RF" means rip free then my Platinum version has the ripper function, i.e. made before Feb. 2004 so I guess I'll have to download DVDXCopy Xpress RF. I'm not sure what this 321RIP allows me to do that I can't already do with version 4.0.3.8

Your confusing the two. 321rip turns Platinum RF back into a ripper version. So you will be able to use the browse button and burn movies(video_ts files) that are saved on your hd. With v4.0.3.8 you cannot do this.

Flip, I very rarely use the software anymore, but when I do, yes, I use the RF version.

Like you said, GrandpaBW, 321 Studios responded quickly to my email request and gave me the free RF download which I installed to it's own directory. Copied bouducon.dll from the ripper version to the RF version. Used DVD Decrypter to rip a DVD movie to my hard drive then opened Xpress RF and BINGO, there was the BROWSE button active and ready to go. Burned it from my hard drive folder to a DVD RW disc and it plays just fine on my cheap-ass WalMart Apex brand DVD player BUT NOT on my top of the line Toshiba DVD player or my Toshiba notebook DVD/CD drive. Go figure?? Anyway thanks again.

You are welcome, telerad. Flip wrote a small program that will do the same thing (I think) as copying the bouducon.dll.

All I've been using is DVD +R and DVD +RW. After scanning the videohelp.com website it seems that my particular Toshiba unit only accepts DVD-R discs. I'll get some -R's and try again.
