Hello all,

I'm a complete beginer at all this encoding malarky, so forgive me if this is a daft question.

Im trying to convert an avi file to burn to DVD. the avi file is DIV3/div4, DivX 3 Fast-Motion acording to Gspot. I have tried using Nero Vision express to convert to dvd, but this hangs about 45 mins into the movie every time.

I tried to use TMPGEnc plus 2.5 trial version to convert but this said that it could not open the file or it was not compatible.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Im pulling my hair out. I have 4 avi files all doing the same!

Regards

Mark

mark1968...... with TMPGEnc plus 2.5 go to enviromental settings=VFAPI plugin=then change 'Directshow Multimedia file reader' prority to 2 that should let u open then file with TMPGEnc.

If that still dont work make sure u have the correct codecs installed.

Is it AC3 audio mark yeah....im thinking it is if its frezzing at encode ...if GSpot says its AC3 u want to extract the AC3 audio from the file with virtualdubmod and encode just the video with TMPGEnc then add them separtly to dvd author or whatever prog u use for authoring.

here is a guide for doing what i said above ...hope it helps.http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/186739.php#2
