hi there again.
just a question about the length of video you can burn to a dvd-r disc.
i use SONIC MyDVD to capture my (1 hour) mini dv tapes to pc, and i capture in "BEST quality 60mb/min" mpeg2 720x576 (pal) 16 bit audio etc and i can only fit 65minutes of video onto a dvd-r disc (the quality is excellent)
IF i capture the video using only the "BETTER quality 30mb/min" setting i can put 130 minutes of video onto the dvd-r disc (picture quality is only about VHS quality only and isnt good enough for my liking.
most of my best quality 65min mpeg2 video files are about 3.7gb and thats the most that will fit onto a 4.7gb (officially 4.47gb or so) is this because the dvd-r disc needs the other 700mb or so for other things while its burning the video, and why cant they make the file size capacity a bit better to fit more high quality video onto a disc.
is there another way (uncomplicated) to fit a bit more than 65min of highest quality 60mb/min mpeg2 video onto the dvd-r without compromising quality, or is this something that cant really be done.
im not that worried about it, i just make 2 seperate dvd's if i have say 90 minutes of video to burn, but i wont use the lower quality mpeg2 cos its not that crash hot in image (or am i just too fussy) anyway, hope someone has an answer for me here.
