Newbie here. This looks like a great forum!

I have a store bought DVD that is two sided. There is no writing on either side. My daughter didn't know which side goes "up" in the DVD player, so we wrote "this side up" on the DVD. Well, stupid me. I didn't know at that time that it was a two-sided DVD (look, I really am a newbie....) and now the flip side won't play. I'm wondering if the writing on the "up" side is interfering with the laser's ability to play the second side.

I would really appreciate any suggestion for safely removing the writing. It was, of course, written with a Sharpie.
