mpeg problem in WMP

I have an mpeg video file that plays perfectly fine in WMP unless i move the slider to advance the film, what happens then is that the file will just freeze although the time clock still continues. Yet if i watch the film in PowerDVD i dont get this problem. Is there anything i can do to correct the problem with this file as WMP9 works perfectly fine with all my other files.
