dvd burner to cdr discs?

my computer has a cd burner built into it and i was wondering just how to hell to use it. can i make a disc to disc copy? can i convert files off the net and then burn them as well? can i burn dvd material or files off my hard drive to cdr disc to be played in my dvd player? or do i need to only use dvdr discs? any help is great. thanks a lot.

You can't use DVD-R discs with CD writer, you need a DVD writer (costs from $300 to $1000 in U.S.).

But you can copy DVD movies with pretty good quality to two or three CDs with VCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">VideoCD format and those CDs will (almost certainly) work with your DVD player. Guide for this:
