Verizon, in its recent 8-K regulatory filing, announced it had record smartphone activations in the Q4 2012.
The carrier saw 9.8 million smartphones activated during the period, mainly thanks to a "higher mix of Apple smartphones."
Impressively, the company said it "expects to see 2.1 million retail post-paid net additions during the fourth quarter."

I snagged a used AT&T iPhone 4 and went onto Straight Talk. Couldn't be happier and am saving tons of cash, compared to what I previously paid to Verizon.
That's because people are sheep! Verizon is price gouging. I'm surprised people don't see this! I went to them a few months ago, inquiring about an unlimited texting/and 100 min plan. Apparently since I have a smart phone, I HAVE to have a data plan, which costs more. Sounds like BS to me.
And yet, I can go to walmart, and get a Verizon pay as I go plan for considerably less :S Needless to say, I ended up going with straight talk. I can go with anyone, given my unlocked phone. Their loss! Bit of a slap in their face, given my phone is originally one of theirs :p
