In a move to improve its coverage in rural areas around the nation, wireless giant AT&T has acquired Alltel's retail operations for $780 million. Alltel, owned by Atlantic Tele-Network has about 585,000 paying wireless subscribers. I don't understand this posting. I was an Alltel customer in 2009 and received MUCH documentation about the transition from Alltel being it's own company to being purchased and integrated with Verizon. When I had to call customer service it was a Verizon representative I spoke with and when my bill came it was a Verizon bill. Was that a regional purchase? Please elaborate.
