RIM used their much-hyped press event today to unveil BlackBerry 10, the operating system that the company hopes will help turn around its half decade of malaise. The company also rebranded itself as BlackBerry, losing the Research In Motion name that was not necessarily synonymous with its brand. The Z10 has a 4.2-inch screen, 1280 x 768-resolution, a dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, LTE and dual 2/8MP cameras.
Doesn't sound very outdated to me.

I hope they pull through. It's always nice to have some more competition.

Not if you also consider the iphone 5 to be cutting edge.
Android flagships have spoiled us.

True, its not cutting edge but I don't necessarily need a quad-core and 8GBs of RAM to text my friends and play the odd time-waster.

I popped in to a shop and held/briefly used a Z10 earlier. The build quality wasn't up to that of an iPhone or Nexus 4, and I wasn't immediately won over by the BB10 OS meaning there is absolutely no reason to switch.

The build quality of the iphone is pretty bad, the screen crack all the time, I've so far only seen 2 cracked screens on a gs2 and a htc one people doing silly stuff with the phone.

but I've also used a gs2 that's been in the bath and also been run over by a car without the screen cracking.

the iphone5 will be a little better but once you have it near heat the metal will get hot and hold the heat cooking the guts and the Nexus 4 can't get enough production to get itself sold let alone used by anyone.

Okay, well what I was referring to was more to do with how "nice" the device feels to hold. I threw iPhone in as an example.
