Bloomberg: Apple iWatch coming before end of 2013

article published on 5 March, 2013

According to Bloomberg, the oft-rumored Apple iWatch could debut before the end of 2013, and be more profitable than any HDTV the company could be developing. If accurate, the sources say the device would be able to "make calls, check caller ID, relay map coordinates and carry a built-in pedometer and health monitoring sensors." The watch will likely have a deal with fitness partner Nike, at launch. ... [ read the full article ]

With all the issues Apple has had with time keeping and alarms with iOS I am not sure a watch would be the best thing for them to make. Also the battery drain would be horrible.

I think this idea might be just a bit too geeky for mainstream. I think I'll stick with my Casio calculator watch, lol.

While I hate apple, I think this has serious potential. If this thing will work as a phone (with bluetooth) AND as a WiFi hotspot...then the user could forgo the iPhone, and just go around with an iPad mini and the watch. Sure, a 7" iPhone would be a better solution, but Apple won't do a 7" phone until a year after samsung...and it is probably at least a year away for samsung. If it has Siri it could also really simplify things for some people...no digging for the iPhone in your pocket while you sit on the train, just raise your wrist and say, "Find me a car dealer".

If it is water resistant and has good storage then it could also be rather useful for joggers. If it isn't water resistant, the failure rates will be sky high.

As for the calender issues, all Apple needs to do is what they always claim to do...KEEP IT SIMPLE...or better yet, get Google to do it. At the very least, let google do the maps.

Of course, there is one very serious issue I see. The whole point of an Apple product is to show off the logo; it is like a gold analog watch...it says to the world, "I have enough money to waste on pointless crap"...and the Apple logo will be on the back.

I think wearing a watch is more of a fashion statement than a necessity. Clocks are everywhere. For the time I can look at my cellphone, my tv screen, my microwave etc. My cell phone already does the other things that the iwatch will do. Why would I need it?

What is up with wearing technology? Google glass and iWatch? Soon we're going to wear fitness pants that play music while we run and shock you if you stop running

Hey, maybe these baby's will become mandatory in New York. They can track you to see if your getting your daily allotment of exercise, and make sure your not visiting any soda pop stands that are illegally selling soft drinks of 16 ounces or more. Michael Bloomberg would be so proud.
