I have a pioneer 350 DVD Player that was bought from a high street store a couple of years ago. As far as I know, it is only a Region 2 player. It has a Region 2 sticker on the back and I have never had it hacked/modified in any way. The other day I happened to have a Region 1 disc ("The Lion King") and thought I would put it in just to see what would happen. Strange thing is that the film played perfectly. I tried this with another Region 1 film ("The Little Mermaid") and that worked also. Does that mean my DVD player is multi-region? The 2 films I mention were bought from eBay (they came from Malaysia) and both clearly state Region 1 on the packaging. I have read somewhere about these type of films being "DVD-9 Bootleg Asian Imports" - what exactly does that mean? And does it mean that they were not true Region 1 DVDs? Any advice is greatly appreciated as I do not want to start buying Region 1 films if it is only these "dodgy Region 1 imports" from eBay that work and not "proper" Region 1 DVDs. I hope this makes sense! Thank You!
