TOSHIBA RD-XS32, HELP PLEASE!

please bear with me as i'm just a newbie when it comes to electronics.

i bought this recorder yesterday and i have a couple of questions, please don't laugh too loud, you might hurt yourself.

1. is it possible to connect 2 different satellite receivers into the inputs of this unit and switch back and forth between them as needed or does it work like a tivo where the different inputs are for the same signal but just split?

2. i recorded a couple of movies to the hard drive but i'm not able to transfer them to a dvd, it says something like "the equipment connected to the dv terminal isn't recognized."

what does this mean?
