The NPD Group has released their video game industry figures for February, with the overall downtrend not abating.
Hardware, software and accessory sales were down 25 percent year-over-year, with hardware seeing the biggest decline at 36 percent.

Actually the reason for this is not the release of the ps4 or xbox it's still the price tag nintendo priced themselves out of the market because family's which purchased wii consoles where happy at the 200.00 price tag now because of the poor economy most familys can afford 200.00 but cannot afford 350.00 for a console so nintendo has blacklisted there gaming system to the rich instead of the daily consumer.
There's no money in the money for consoles it's simply a want item not a need item so people who would have bought it years ago wouldn't bother with it now.
Streaming gaming won't do jack either because not only do you need a console. You also need a net connection fast enough to use it plus pay for the stream service and pay to buy the games that you never really get or have.
