Are all mod chips the same and is it true that it doesnt matter what chip you have it will still play the backups?

All chips do the same basic functions and they will all play backups just as well as the next. It is actually the bios that is responsible for booting the games, and they all use the the same Xecutor 4983.xx bios. Some chips are more feature packed than others. Though the share the same bios, by no means are all chips equal.

well some modchips are not always compatible with the newer xbox versions. latest veresion is xbox 1.6 and the new evox M8 bios are v1.6 compatible
