It has happened several times now that when I use Nero to burn (burn at once mode) I get an error message. However, if I use Shrink I did not have any problems so far. I have this problem with my laptop and PC and do not have Roxio installed. I wonder if Nero is screwing up? Software problem?

Doubtful it's a software problem. Shrink uses either Nero or Decrypter to burn. And if your successful burning with Shrink, then Nero's working just fine(this is if your not using decrypter to burn).
Are you trying to burn a video_ts file with Nero? If so, here's a good guide:

Do not use Nero Wizard.
When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the ?New Compilation? window. Directly under the title ?New Compilation? is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on the DVD Video Icon. Then click ?New? in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen.
You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder, the one you made earlier holding all of your files and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the ?Shift? key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. I've seen alot of people have problems with DVD43. The only purpose of having DVD43, is if your using Nero's Recode 2. And if you are using Recode 2, your better off getting AnyDVD($39)
Your probably right. I remember when I first started backing up my dvds that 15 out of 25 of my media was wasted with nero+dvd43 v.1. I will try using shrink and Nero to burn and check if it will make any difference. But I bet its the dvd 43 v.1
I've downloaded DVD43 v1 and patin coufin here at afterdawn but it's f...up. It will not duplicate my dvd's for some reason. However, I've downloaded the same software at a different site and it is working just fine. Do not know exactly why. Maybe the softwares I've downloaded here is no good. Will advise if the current software metioned screws up.
