Ouya raises a lot more money, but delays launch of console

Ouya, the open-source console originally scheduled for commercial release at the beginning of June, has been delayed.
The console will see a three week delay, to June 25th, which likely means there are some additional kinks to be worked out in regards to supply.

I still do not understand the point of this console... It may be cheap but unless the game are more than what is currently offered on the Android platform it really does not offer much.
I think the main reason tablet games are so popular is because they are simple and can be played on the go.
Just my opinion and maybe it will be something different than what I am thinking it will be.

Indeed, however every OUYA console is a development kit as well.

Now that is cool if you like to develop your own games. Guess I need to read up some more on this device because so far from what I have read it has been portrayed as a box that runs android and plays android games but now you can use a gamepad with it.

The idea is nice but rumor has it the terga 3 which it use won't keep up for the next 2 years, nvidia has warned them and showed them how to super-clock it to 1.8ghz-2ghz but say they would be better of with terga 4 or terga 4i which has a life span 2-3 years for game development.
I'm not buying one and instead i'll buy a google nexus 2 this year and hook up a xbox 360 control as android now supports it native, it will be a better choice and portable.

It seems we may have taken a step backwards. Some indie games look/are pretty cool. For instance, I can't wait to play state of decay and the walking dead was awesome. But many offerings are just really boring (angry birds), stupid arcade games that look like they came out of the Segal genesis era. Why this movement to bring back retro style gaming?

One of the whole points about the Ouya is that it can easily evolve over time as new & better components become available, this has always been central to the original idea.
It's one of the really interesting ideas about it & one of the reasons why I find the concept so interesting.
Ouya is not going to be like the std console, locked into a fixed spec for 10yrs.

Well If I can upgrade it like my PC , it will have to be easy to do such as with out soldering. I would really consider buying a console which is upgradable which is plug and play like my PC is.
But what I heard is repair bills for the device is almost the cost of the device it self, which makes it sound like upgrading will be very costy.
I wish we could get a android on PCs , I would build a mini android next to my TV lol

Considering that the "device itself" costs $99 compared to M$ or $ony's offerings, it makes sense (to me anyway) to want to upgrade it myself and still retain the functionality of being able to play around with game development in the process. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Also, they've already stated that the OUYA will constantly being evolving as technology presents itself at a reasonable price to consumers, so I'd rather spend $99 every 2-3 years than $4-600 every 4-5 years on a new system.

I think you're misunderstanding the idea here.
At least as far as my understanding of this upgradability goes.
The Ouya will be upgraded in time by the producer as better components become available cheaply enough.
I don't think anyone imagines the regular consumer being expected to break out the soldering iron.
Plugging in new RAM might be feasible but putting in a new CPU might lead to all sorts of complications over warranty if people get it wrong & then try to lie about it & claim flaws.
