Can somone give me some insight on what the BEST programs are to use for sending and receiveing files across town to a friend.. I currectly use FlashFXP to connect to my friends webserver. He is using Serv U FTP server.. I cannot seem to get more than 30 KB a second.. Thats uploading or downloading.. We have tried multiple ways and settings.. With a firewall and also without. No luck at all.. Does anyone know of a better way to transfer files between to friends across town? 30 kb is rediculous.. We both have broadband cable with pretty nice systems.. Thanks in advance..

Matt

you would most likely still be regulated by the cable providers upstream cap. i send to a friend acrossed town all the time and it's no different than if i'm sending 1/2 way around the world.

Yeah, I know about the cap.. Comcast says I have 256 to 512KB upload bandwith. What makes me wonder is this..I can open up several sessions of FlashFXP and connect to the same server and upload files. Each session will upload at 30kb a sec. 30X4 = 120kb.. Just wondering why I cant get 120kb in 1 session of FlashFXP but I can if I do it in multiple sessions.. I thought it might be something to do with FlashFXP.. What are your upload speeds? Thanks for the help Darthnip.. How goes your job and that nifty new camera you got awhile back? Got any footage of it in action ? thanks again

i only get around 14-15KB on my upstream. alot of ISP's label their streams as like 256kb up but it's actually 25.6KB, might be the case for you. not sure how you could have multiples going at the max, but enjoy it, i wish my isp allowed that. the camera is killer, if you come on IRC i can send you a clip i shot of a firecracker blowing up in super slowmo (5000fps), it's pretty cool, but the file sizes are freakin huge, but when you stretch a fraction of a second out over a minute or two, i guess it makes sense.
