I still can't believe how much memory is used up by Win8.

A core i5 mobile cpu is not a quad core but a hyperthreaded dual core.

Still, I hear they are ok to use.

*shrug* With a small portable USB drive, storage becomes less of a (but still important) issue.

The Surface Pro is a fine piece of kit, at maybe 3/4 the price. There's already several Full WIn8 tablets on the market (including similar hybrid cover/keyboards) for a lot less money, at quite comparable specs.
