French camera optics and image sensor analysis firm DxO Labs has reported on the top smartphones of their respective operating systems, finding the Galaxy S4 to outperform its rivals.
Although it did not beat Nokia's 40MP 808 PureView device, the S4 did beat out the Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5 in overall score.

It's very, very likely the HTC One came out after this study was initiated. It's no small matter to bring in new subjects after any scientific study has commenced.
I've understood that while good or even great in low light situations, the Lumia camera is mediocre at best in daylight. Mind you, this isn't based on any first hand experience, but rather a summary of various test results I've happened to read over the months.
Still, I agree with dali - such a big difference does seem a bit odd.
