AT&T GoPhone adds LTE, HSPA+ and iPhone

article published on 27 May, 2013

AT&T has updated their GoPhone prepaid wireless brand significantly this week, adding support for the company's LTE and HSPA+ data networks. Additionally, the company has now officially added support for the iPhone. Until this week, GoPhone had allowed iPhone users to sign up, but they could not access 3G data. $65 a month, plus taxes, surcharges, and other fees, for only 1GB of data? LTE is faster, but no thanks. I'll stick with my unlimited talk/text and 3G data on Straight Talk for a total billed price of $43.95.

Most of my data access is via wifi anyhow.

Agreed...Paying 45/month +tx for my Boost...unlimited everything with 4G now. The only people that will get GoPhone are those that don't know any better. (or are apple fan bois that do not have enough credit to get a "normal" plan) I dropped AT&T for Boost over 3 years ago...best decision I ever made.

I switched from ATT's gophone crap to Virgin mobiles $35 prepaid plan and never looked back.
I get the same reliable service and a much cheaper price. I have my 17yr old daughter on T-mobiles $30 unlimited text and web 4g plan and that is an even sweeter deal which I am going to switch soon too.
Anways, ATT prices aren't good at all.

Almost switched to Virgin when my Boost SII phone took a crap on me when I barrel rolled a canoe a couple weeks ago. Only reason I didn't is because of the hassle of trying to change phone numbers. Changing a prepaid number to a new plan seems to ba a major PITA.

When I switched from ATT to Virgin, I experienced zero issues transferring my number. I did contact ATT some info that Virgin needed. Then called Virgin and gave them the 411 and within 30min my virgin account was active and with the same phone #.
My daughter went from Virgin to T-mobile prepaid and I had zero issues switching service and using the same #.
But I am aware that in some cases this isn't the case.
