Asus has unveiled their PQ321 monitor, an extremely high-end 31.5-inch IGZO display with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160). Additionally, the monitor will be the thinnest 4K (UltraHD) yet, at just 35mm. I have to admit it'll be a pleasant surprise of it's not too far above $1000 (£660) at that size.
As 1080p was beginning a 24" 1080p Dell (then most people's choice of the best of what was around) was, if I remember rightly, about that.

Rather than TV, 4k makes much more sense as a plausible option on PC right now I think.

Right... for industry and hi-end gamers.... saying it will not be cheap would be an understatement. It will be a 'first-on-the-block' toy.

Yes, even the hi-end Apple monitor was a re-badged Dell at twice the price.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.
