my new system has a LiteOn DVD/CD player setup as master drive
and i have a LiteOn DVDR/CDR drive as a secondary drive

i have backed up all of my movies with the drive onto DVD but for
the first time yesterday i tried to burn a program to CD using Nero
and the burn appeared to be working and the box came up as
'burn successful' yada yada yada and i can see the little lines on
the cd but windows explorer cant see any info on the disc? it comes
up as no media in drive?

i have tried burning several times and even used the windowsxp
burning tool and get the same results?

the drive is LiteOn 811s

i have new firmware,
i have deleted and reloaded nero,
i deleted the nvidia ide drivers and went back to the standard windows ide drivers,

any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Will the CD work in another PC? Have you tried lowering the write speed?

This could be that what you are burning is corrucptrd or the media is corrupted. You should have no problem burning with Nero with the drive you have.I have a simular model to your drive and Nero works fine. You have re installed Nero and tried with other programes. You have even removed your ide drivers which i would put back on as i don't think this is your problem.I suspect it is one of the two i mention.Try changing the media first as this will narrow your problem down a little.

no, the cd isnt recognized in another pc so the burner has to be defective in some way i think?
the red light comes on that its burning, i can see the 'data' on the cd, but it just isnt recognized by the pc?

Try another buring application? try different media?
]Try burnatonce or DeepBurner, a free buring rock solid program and try buring to different media. Play the backups in your Litey cd\dvd-rom and see if you encounter the same problems m8.

I have similar problems with Nero 6. The CD burn is succsessful but there are from few unreadable files to no files on the burned CD.
Lately i wrote a CD with about 200 files. The CD burning was succsessful, but there was only one small file on the CD while the session was 699 MB on (700MB CD).
The most wierd CD i wrote with Nero 6 is one with MP3 files. Again succsessfil burnning, but some files were unreadable. Windows media player uses the MP3 tags and time lenghts from one file but the music is from another file!!!
In my view Nero creates wrong CD images. But it is not the only problem. It does something to CD drivers (may be). When i first installed it i had WinOnCD and Easy CD Creator. Both stoped working after the Nero install. Now i swithed to Roxio Easy Media Creator.
