WWDC: Apple completely rehauls dated operating system with launch of iOS 7

article published on 10 June, 2013

Apple used the stage today to officially unveil iOS 7, the first true rehaul of the dated operating system. Even CEO Tim Cook admitted the new OS was the biggest change to the platform since iOS was first introduced in 2007 with the iPhone. From a design standpoint, Apple has made everything sharper, flatter and slimmer, and frankly it looks much, much better. The company has added ... [ read the full article ]

Let me guess... you will only be able to get it on the iPhone 5 and 5s (or whatever it is called) and iPhone 4/4S owners will be left in the dark or a watered down version with features missing.

no matter what design apple comes up with iOS, i am losing hope for an apple portable device day by day since i still see apple doesn't care to do something about itunes' (crappy) functionality. i am surprised that itunes still cannot handle transferring photo/video files from two different folders/partitions/drives. you sync photos with folder A, and then you sync with folder B, and everything that was imported from A is gone! WTF?
some folks have suggested me to use wireless technology (even using something like wi-drive) for the transfer of files to apple portable devices, but i beg to differ. wireless is not available everywhere, and the transfer speed sucks.
and, apple is not selling portable devices with high capacity storage at reasonable price (2nd but less serious complaint from me).

unless at least the primary issue is solved, i will keep my faith on android only for portables. admittedly, a device like note II is fabulous when compared to iphone5 or others.

In what way would android need to be cleaned up?

Samsung phones have always had the drop down setting changes the newest version of touchwiz lets you turn on/off wifi, GPS, Sound, screen rotation, bluetooth, mobile data, blocking mode, power saving, allshare cast mode, multi window.

The galaxy S has Wifi, bluetooth, GPS, sound, screen rotation.

The other versions of android have this as well in their own format.

Apple have only just added this feature to iOS, and instead of drop down it's pull up.

With the android launchers you can theme your phone and change all the default android/program icons via icon packs or use icon editors and change the icon to another one with some launchers.

Same with dialers, SMS apps, contact apps, the list goes on and on with the amount of themes and changes you can do on android phones.

and you can have multi launchers on an android phone so no need to only stick to 1 launcher you can have next launch and touchwiz on the 1 phone and just pick which one you want or have 1 launcher set as a default and change the launcher via the settings.

While I don;t use apple products I do have to do things on them or via itunes at times.

I notice that itunes has to have everything in 1 folder this is on PC/windows and itunes.

it will put everything into c:/users/*user dir*/itunes/files/*files here* then you have a downloads folder as well.

So when you sync you don't link files you actually copy everything to that folder, it really should be called import rather than sync.

and files it hasn't downloaded or can't link a name to itunes details it won't name etc, itunes will only do this for AAC files(MP3) not video files even if it's been encoded to the correct format and name.

To be honest itunes is a bit crappy as a music/video caster there's much better programs out there.

It still looks so stupid with all those little icons. And their biggest change yet.....ha ha ha, their biggest change is that its almost as usable as an android, what a piece of crap. To be honest, I use the Galaxy series android phones, and they are way better for me at least, but they suck shit too. Android works the best....for about 10 minutes, then it starts running all that google shit in the background that you can only suspend for a few seconds at a time, so basically the phone will no longer operate unless you previously downloaded another app that is able to do that said suspension. So I think I will eventually end up with a windows phone, as that OS looks and works better than either of the competing fuckernauts that are currently leading.

I'm confused. People here are saying IOS sucks. Most of the features have been robbed from Android. How many features did Android steal or borrow from IOS when it was the pioneer of all of this. I'm not an Apple fanboy. I am merely pointing out the hypocrisy of people that accuse Apple of stealing ideas when Android was built on and improved in many ways what they originally saw from Apple. It all comes down to stealing each others best ideas and improving on them or at minimum including them in their own operating system. It's like human beings. We learn from each other and adopt our favorite qualities of our friends all while implementing ideas of our own in to framing who we are.

How much stuff do you have? If you can get it all on one drive, you can hold shift while starting iTunes and redirect it to a new folder. I use this to keep all of my home machines linked to a single iTunes folder on my network. With gigabit switches, it works rather well. (Not sure if this advice helps or not in your situation.)
