HTC allegedly prepping 6-inch One Max

article published on 15 July, 2013

It appears that HTC will be building their own phablet device, supposedly named the HTC One Max. The 6-inch, 1080p device will rival the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and Sony's Xperia Z Ultra. Samsung has unveiled their Galaxy Note devices ... [ read the full article ]

I just bought a Huawei Ascend Mate... I would love to wait for this or the Sony but they're gonna be so unbelievably expensive, I already know it.

Their regular flagship phones are expensive enough.

Give us replaceable battery & a decent capacity micro SD slot & HTC will once again be worthy of consideration.
If not, no sale.

It is 6"...so it has room for a decent size/speed SD card; no need for micro. Of course, we would be lucky to see even a microSD from HTC. A decent battery would also be nice...but that is doubtful as well. I'd ask for a Nexus (or at lease Sense free) rom...but I know that wouldn't happen anyway...and I'd root it anyway so it doesn't really matter. The big thing tho...the really big thing...is the USB connector. Every HTC I've had, every HTC my friends or family have had all had the same terrible micro-USB connector that rattles loose from the slightest vibration, and actually falls out if plugged in while driving. It doesn't matter if you use a brand new, top-of-the-line, gold plated cable...it still happens within the first month most of the time. It isn't even a micro-USB thing, but since HTC has never fixed this by putting in a quality connector like Samsung has, I won't trust anything they make with micro-USB. HTC phones have plenty of room for a mini-USB connector; the same thing Sony used with the PS3 controllers when they decided that some games would require users to jerk the controller violently; USE ONE!!!

How could you go after HTC for cheapness with a Samsung comparison :/

Not had any problems myself though I will admit the micro-USB port on HTC phones does seem to be really shallow.

There are a few reasons why they can?t use mini-usb
- The mini-USB connector got depreciated in 2007 in favour of the micro-USB so they wouldn?t be able to get it certified.

- Mini-USB connectors are not compatible with USB on-the-go
which many phone accessories use.

- I think HTC signed up to a European standard to try and make phone manufacturers use the same charging port (in order to cut down on the hundreds of old phone chargers in my desk drawer). As you probably have guessed this standard port is micro-USB

samsung may look cheaper, but functionally, their phones are way more advanced than the corresponding HTC's. replaceable battery with better battery life, micro-SD, way better software (sense in awful compared to touchwiz, IMO), so many choices of forms...

but alas! even with 6", i am not convinced that i can use some of these as my primary mobile device. give me something that can replace my laptop, at least, for reading everything!!!
