That's how I feel about Jaguar and Mercedes cars, as well as Le Creuset cookware.

At least those things offer better specs for your money... these machines are VERY meh.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

That's the point..."better specs for your money" is about the worth of things being subjective.

friend of mine bought a toshiba amd quad core laptop last year from best buy or future shop for about $650Can. i finished the installation of win7 on it for him & loaded my usual stuff like ccleaner & avg free. he had it for almost a week then took it back & replaced it with a macbook pro for at least another $1000 on top of the $650 that he paid for the toshiba. he told me when i found out that he got the mac that avg was telling him he has over 500 issues with his windows like malware, trojans & whatever. i don't think it was avg that was doing that but a malware look-alike of avg was saying that. his wife already had a macbook maybe pro i don't know but looks identical on the outside to his. her son inlaw down in the states who gave her the mac says they don't get infected like windows do which we know is wrong but they won't listen to me about that. oh well.

Well, that's gratitude for you! My guess is that he was just looking for an excuse to get a Mac since the wife and son had already had him under pressure considering they'd already bought into the iHype. I have another friend like that...

The impression that Macs don't get infected is one of the most dangerous pieces of misinformation that Apple promulgate. Something that's almost certain to have happened to your friend considering the sites and links he indiscriminately clicks.

Btw, the usual treatment I give clients who have been foolish enough to get those sort or infections (no, it wasn't AVG doing that... and I'll bet it wasn't even a AVG look-alike) is to run the latest Combofix, make sure it's from bleepingcomputer.com, then scan with the free Malwarebytes MBAM. Then run their normal AV... I recommend MSE nowadays. Cheers.
