I feel stupid for asking this but i have a memorex burner that is 2.4x speed yeah i know its slow but he told me there is a firmware that will make it 4x speed can someone inlighten me on what exactly firmware is and how will it be useful to what i am doing and where can can i get it please help

Firmware is a small bit of programming instructions that is stored in a piece of hardware like a dvd burner drive.
You can go to this site for updates. You need to know the model of your drive.
http://www.rpc1.com.
Read the instructions well. If done wrong it could kill your drive.
