"DVD shrink encountered an Error and cannot continue.
Copy Protection Error. The request could not be performed because of an I/O Device error."
This error happened on my computer using Win XP and my brothers using Win XP. My burner is micro advantage and his is I/O magic.
This error pops up when you click "Backup" on both computers. Any ideas out there, and is there by chance a glossary of errors for DVD backups?
I tried DVD Basic and DVD re-author.

If you get a "Copy Protection Error" when using DVD Shrink with Nero, please try some or all of the following:

Try playing the DVD for a few seconds with your software player (WinDVD, PowerDVD, Etc...), pause it, then start the DVD Shrink process.

Try un-checking "Enable burning with Nero" in the "Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O" menu.
You will still be able to burn your backups with Nero manually as usual.

Try ripping the DVD to the hard disk drive first with DVD Decrypter.

Try opening Nero before using DVD Shrink.

Try using region-free software like DVD43, AnyDVD or DVD RegionFree.

Thanks for the response. We haven't reached the Nero stage when this error happens. Did analysis OK. When did "backup" the error message popped up. This also happens if I use DVD Decrypter and then drag the files to DVD Shrink.
Thanks for the help. PS DVD 43 didn't help.
Thanks again, and any more ideas??

Did you try un-checking "Enable burning with Nero".
It doesn't matter that Nero is not burning when you get that error. Just having it enabled can cause that error on many computers. It has to do with the way that DVD Shrink and the Nero SDK interact.

Thank you-Thank you for your great assistance to this Newbie. You were absolutely correct with the "unc-checking " of Nero. It's great to have people like you who are in the know take time to assist us that wish we knew more. This is a swell forum.
Thanks again Veblin.
