T-Mobile USA now offering smartphones for $0 down

article published on 28 July, 2013

T-Mobile USA has announced this week that for a limited time you can now purchase high-end smartphones for $0 down, with just a small increase in monthly payments. For example, before the new move, the iPhone 5 cost $145.99 down with payments of $21 per month for two years. Now, the device is $0 down with 24 months of $27 payments. Tmobile has great prices and deals and while their service isn't quite a strong as Verizon's or ATT..........it's not SIGNIFICANTLY worse.

I don't know why any moron would consciously choose to pay twice the price for the 2 big boy services as opposed to T-Mobile, but there are certainly plenty out there.

Had Tmobile for 8 years up until a few weeks ago. Simply ditched my cell phone completely and ported number from T-Mobile to Vonage. Don't think I'll get a cell until all services come down in price and go up in quality of service.....I'm guesstimating another 3 years before that happens to my scrupulous satisfaction.

Actually, I still have AT&T... Fed up with their prices after my 2 years, I was going to switch to T-Mobile, but when I called AT&T to cancel my plan, they offered me a "grandfather" plan, which was pretty kick ass and beat the other ones hands down... Now that I have a smartphone (HTC One X which I LOVE), the data plan only costs an additional $20 a month AND They let me keep my older plan (phone was ELEVEN CENTS at Wal-Mart if you sign up for and agree to a two year plan (which I always do)...$65 a month for a plan that includes data, not bad...

Here's a few smart tips for people on phone plans...

1. When your two year contract is up... DO NOT RENEW THE PLAN!! You will obviously still be charged a monthly rate... Companies often give phones away for free or next to nothing to either renew your contract for another 2 years or sign up for a new plan... Most people don't know this and stupidly lock into another two years after their previous two end... I always wait until there's a really kick ass phone I want, the deal will be offered and BAM! Next to nothing paid for a great phone to do what you've pretty much already been doing anyway...

2. Two years is up? Pissed off at the high rates? Call the phone company and tell them you want to cancel your phone plan. When they ask why be sure and tell them you've found a cheaper rate somewhere else... They'll put out a few stops to keep you with them...

3. This is a BIG one. If you are on an older plan, such as a grandfather plan (noted in scenario 2 above), DO NOT renew your contract at an AT&T store!!! Do it at a kiosk in the mall or a Wal-Mart... The reason is, when I went to the AT&T store to inquire about a phone, they told me I wouldn't be able to keep my older grandfather plan and would have to switch to a higher voice rate... THEY WILL LIE TO YOU to sell you a more expensive plan... Plus, at a Wal-Mart or kiosk, those people may often be selling phones for other carriers, so they're not under "sales pressure."

4. Can you wait until a more advanced model of phone comes out? The HTC One's came out a month or two after the HTC One X. The other part of the reason the price was so cheap? Wal Mart wanted to get rid of the HTC One X's... Think about it: Most people may not want an HTC One X if there's a model a step up... Still, the HTC One X is a great phone, and I will wait two years before I get the HTC One... Honestly, I love this phone so much I may keep it longer...
