24awg wire is fine for the ground but you can use normal 30awg wire for the power if you wish. I do the LA mod aka the "romeo mod" on all my v9-10 systems as a precautionary measure. If you are only going to use orginals then this mod is not needed. I am guessing you mean import originals. But you know you will one day start playing DVD-r back ups since you will have the ability with the chip installed.
