bought DVD X Copy Platinum. Very Frustrated! Please Help!

Ok, I keep getting the error messages:
Xpress has caused an error in Xpress.exe, Xpress will now close.
&
Platinum has caused an error in Platinum.exe, Platinum will now close.
these error messages happen when i use simple mode and advanced mode respectively.
it happens after i put a dvd in and it click start. the furthest i have ever gotten is like 18% before the error message occurs.

Here is what i did leading up to this point:
I reformatted my computer and installed my plextor 712a. i am now running with 80 gb hard drive and windows ME. first thing i did when i reformatted my hardrive was install the software that came with the burner, which includes roxio and programs like that. then i installed dvd x platinum 3.2.1 and dvd x rescue. after getting the error messages i uninstalled and reinstalled the program a couple of times and tried restarting my machine, but that didnt work. then i tried deleting roxio, and that didnt work. then i typed "DVD" in the search feild in explorer and deleted everything that came up and then reinstalled only dvd x copy platinum but it still gives me the same problems! i have no clue what to do now. If someone would help me with this i would be forever in their debt. -matt
