The ethernet cable have to be direct or cross over?
(direct= pc to a hub; cross= pc to pc).

Other question, i have an onboard LAN card and a windows xp, When i start the local area network connection (to habilitate the port) it´s says that the cable it´s disconnected. It should say that it´s connected?.

Thanks

Your question pretty much answers itself. If you have your PC connected to the Gamecube using a hub/switch/router, use a patch (direct) cable. If you run the cable directly from the PC to the Gamecube use a crossover. Windows will not detect a connection until the Gamecube initializes the broadband adapter if you are using the crossover method.

You shouldn't have to reconfigure any of the port settings. I'm not sure why their included. You usually only change an application's ports to work around firewalls which shouldn't be an issue if you use a crossover cable to make a direct physical connection.

If you have a firewall running on your PC, it can still affect transfer to your gamecube. Be sure to disable any firewalls locally.
