Asus has unveiled a new transformer tablet running on the efficient Intel Bay Trail processor architecture.
The device will run on the upcoming Windows 8.1 operating system, has a 10.1-inch, 1366 x 768 IPS display, 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, a good portion of which will be taken up by the operating system.

They can put 1080p in a 5" phone. Why not here?
This seems a bit intriguing. But I would have to see it function.

This is suppose to be a cheap alternative. 1080p on anything less than 14" is overkill anyways. Why'd you think the storage space is only 32GB? At least it's IPS, I suppose. Only main grip is the small storage capacity. Minimun of 64GB would be ideal.

Ive used tf100 720p & tf700 1080p. Both 10.1 inch. Yes 1080p material looks better on a 1080p display. I wouldnt call 1080p overkill on a 10 inch display

I guess it depends on the quality of the content and the distance of the screen from the eyes.

Well, I'm more concerned with screen real estate. A 720p desktop is just too small for my taste.

Its main purpose is for portability and cheap price I assume. Like the older netbooks.

Windows on tablets is usless, there is very few companys developing apps/games for it.
For example recent news shows gameloft is porting their games to windows 8 and windows 8 phone, but now they have done a few and all they ported to was windows 8 phone.
Why buy a device if no developers develop for it.

Simple lack of apps, but it does have its windows programs which is a plus doe when i buy a tablet i want the latest apps that are on osx/andriond

Some times I really wonder if if those who post here are really thinking or just doing it for the sake of it. Ultimately it is the angle of view and the distance from the eye that is going to matter for comfortable use. At 1080p resolution you will have smaller icons and finer text which I am sure are going to be difficult to decipher. So one would have to resort to desktop configuration to enlarge everything. I have a 24 inch 1080p TV that I use as PC monitor. I have it set to enlarge to 115 %. Higher resolution advantage lost. We have 5 inch screen quad core Android phones available with full 1080p resolution. So why not on a 10" tablet? I will now most seriously consider it based on its performance and battery life. I most certainly don't have the need nor inclination to learn completely new interface.
