But seriously i have been messing around with stuff and having no luck. I was told to get dvd x copy but then i heard there was a lawsuit and i couldnt get a copy. Interesting Sig.

2 free programs ... DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. To use this combo you need a pc using NTFS file system. Are you running either XP, Windows 2000 or NT? If so, great here's your steps.

1) Get Shrink and Decrypter:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm

2) Open Shrink, open disc
3) Click "backup!"
4) Change your target destination to "ISO Image File", then check the box to Launch DVD Decrypter

Under the "backup options" tab, you can check perform deep analysis, this will improve picture quality in longer movies(if ya got the time, use it).

5) Click ok.
Run no other programs except Shrink(decrypter will run automatically).

andmerr,

What's this suppose to mean?

The only DVD Architect I found comes in The Vegas®+DVD Production Suite ... which is $799.

I bought one. NEC 2510A for $90, haven't installed it yet. The media is still expensive. $15 a piece.

chiknfukr,

Ok ... there is a difference between dual layer and dual format burners.

I've got TDK840G(think I paid around $150), and a NEC 2100A(came with pc), and NEC 2510($90)

TDK 840G ... dual format burner
NEC 2510 ... dual layer burner
NEC 2100 ... +R only burner

If ya do a search, you'll see people suggesting Plextor, LiteOn, Pioneer, and some Sony & NEC.

chiknfukr,

I would look to spend around $100. Get at least a dual format burner so you can burn both +R(RW) and -R(RW). You can try the dual layer burner which will burn both +/-R(RW) along with dual layer media.

In case you didn't know. Most commercial dvd's are called dvd-9's which hold up to 7.95GB's. Blank media holds up to 4.72GB's(more like 4.35). So to go from DVD-9 to a blank you need to compress the movie(one example of a program that will compress ... DVD Shrink).

One last suggestion, get good media to start(I recommend branded Verbatim's or branded Ritek's).

I don't like them, plus they are over priced. For media check here http://www.meritline.com ... look for Ridata Ritek's.
