I have just bought the ADVC-300 and am unable to get any picture from it on the PC.

I have it connected using a S-VHS cable from an analogue VCR to the ADVC, then via the Firewire port to the PC. The PC is detecting the ADVC as it opens the Canopus Picture Controller 300 without error warning. But when I open the preview screen its just plain black regardless of what I do with the VCR.

I am using Pinnacle Studio 8 and on the "capture settings" screen, Analogue video does not show up in the options, just DV Camcorder. According to the manual for this it should list all connected devices so you can choose which input you want. And everytime I exit this screen the light on the front of the ADVC is jumping to Digital In instead of Analogue In.

The ADVC is set to PAL so I am at a loss as to what is wrong. But as I said there is no picture or audio whatsoever on the PC through this device.

Could it be a graphics card issue? I have a separate firewire card installed so the ADVC is connected directly to that, not through the graphics card.

Please help as I would like to start using this kit as it cost so much its a waste to have it sitting there unable to be used.
