Telecom businesses that have spent many years ripping off their customers with wildly excessive charges now unhappy the EU & member state Gov's are stepping in to put a stop to this.

Just because they have common currency and a so called UNION each member is an independent country with their own budgets and economic agenda. It would be a blunder to do anything resembling what is happening in USA. US has very few service providers and unbelievably high charges. India has circles defined by individual states, numerous service providers and even with applicable roaming charges one of the lowest cost mobile telephony service in the world.
