Nokia wants imports and sales of the HTC One smartphone blocked in the United Kingdom after a patent victory over the Taiwanese firm. A UK court found that technology used in HTC smartphones infringed a patent filed in 1998 for the design of a modulator. I think this patent business is getting more and more stupid. So Qualcomm licensed the technology for inclusion in their chip but with a limitation on where it can be sold. HTC buys the chips in Taiwan, perfectly legal logistically and makes phones with these chips as a part of it. Now import of this phone is sought to be banned. Perhaps the next step would be to confiscate these phones from visitors entering UK as tourists !!
