Xbox One doesn't support 3D Blu-ray

article published on 9 November, 2013

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One console will not play 3D Blu-ray movies at launch. The Xbox One console of course packs a Blu-ray disc drive, but for those of you who have a 3D TV at home and enjoy the experience, don't expect to play your 3D movies on the Xbox One, at least for now. 4K gaming exists today on the PC, I think it will be a disappointment when consoles are missing out on it in 5 years when it will probably be mainstream on PC.

I won't be an early buyer this generation, should be interesting to see how steambox compares to the consoles in 2-3 years.

Nope. Gimmicky. The only thing I thought was interesting about 3D gaming was the idea of using the 3D glasses to allow 2 people to play on the same TV w/ 2 separate views. And by the way, I TOLD YOU SO! ;-)

3D is on its way out the door...4k may catch on in 5 years from now, which will mean new consoles will probably already be in development. No support for either at this stage isn't a deal-breaker for me.

Oh man......1. Out later than PS4
2. 100 bucks more than PS4
3. Surely PS4 will play 3D

Is MS gonna shortchange this thing any more than it already has???

Aren't we as humans supposed to learn from our successes (the Xbox) and avoid failures (Xbox One)??????????????????????????????

3D will remain but will be reinvented. Glasses free 3D sets are dropping in price and I think Samsung or LG will be the first off the starting block with mass production of these new sets.
