doesn't matter,, Sony confirmed that even if you try to add internal hard drive more than 500gb, there will be limit space that it can used which is 500gb. Also, External hard drive will not work on the ps4 according the Sony's Questions and Answers.

Where in that article does it state that Sony is upping the 500gb limit?

All it states is that some German website discovered the PS4 uses a larger hdd dock. It says absolutely nothing about Sony confirming the increase of their 500gb cap.

Nevermind, I read it wrong ... I thought it says limit, it says as long as it's not thinner than 9.5

this will fit ps4 and ps3 according to this site

Hmm, but do they make enclosures that are as thin as this device? If not, what's the point from an external HDD point of view?

That's my point. Who cares about the size of the drive inside if the enclosure is a standard 2.5". If the enclosures are made thinner to support this drive then that would appeal to me. Carrying around a thinner external drive sound nice.
